About the Library

The library is currently closed to all visitors.

OIES has an open library in order to support researchers and students, regardless of their affiliation.

Its specialised library, focuses on the economics and politics of international energy. The collections consist of approximately 20,000 items over two floors, including books, newsletters, journals, statistical serials, annual reports, maps and a large collection of published and unpublished papers.  The collections may be searched using the SOLO catalogue (limit your search results to OIES as SOLO searches across multiple libraries).

OIES research papers are now included in Oxford University’s digital research archive, ORA.

OIES fellows have access to a number of electronic resources, interlibrary loans and a document sourcing service through the library. OIES fellows and graduate students of the University of Oxford may borrow books.  All other visitors are welcome to make an appointment and read material in the library.

Please direct any questions or requests to the librarian.

Donations

All donations to the library whether from individuals, energy companies or publishers are greatly appreciated. OIES thanks the following organizations and publications for supplying – either free of charge or at substantially discounted prices – important trade journals, statistical sources, and other materials vital to our research work, which could not have been afforded otherwise: Argus Media, Blackwell’s, BP, Energy Charter Secretariat, Institute of Energy Economics, Live Media & Publishers, MEES, Natural Gas World, OAPEC and OPEC.
