Chung-Han Yang

Chung-Han studied for his Master’s Degree as a Chevening Scholar at Cambridge University’s Law Faculty. He also studies for his PhD at the University of Cambridge, his doctoral thesis investigated a range of innovative contractual mechanisms, e.g., environmental and human rights clauses in commercial contracts, NGO-Business partnerships and other multi-actor agreements, for preventing and mitigating the environmental and social damage caused by international energy operations.

Before his postgraduate study in the UK, Chung-Han started his legal career as a governmental attorney at the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) Taiwan and a liaison with the US Federal EPA in Washington D.C.. Since January 2018, he has worked as an external legal counsel for the Ministry of Economic Affairs Taiwan, focusing on energy trade, environmental goods and services, digitalisation and SME participation in the WTO platform.

Chung-Han is a counsel with an international law firm Dentons LLP’s Asia-Pacific energy practice and a researcher at the Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG), University of Cambridge.

He has worked with Professor Michael G. Pollitt (Cambridge Judge Business School) on China’s electricity market reform and low-carbon energy transition. This project is funded by the EPSRC Global Challenge Research Fund. The initial outcome has been published both in English and Chinese (kindly translated into simplified Chinese by the British Embassy Beijing).
