Prior positions included Director General of Natural Gas Branch, Director General/Administrator of Canadian oil-pricing system (1982-85); advisor on oil import strategy; Director, Office of Environmental Affairs of Canada; Science Advisor, Foreign Affairs Department; Research Scientist, Geological Survey of Canada conducting environmental impact studies of major energy projects and developing diamond and base metal exploration techniques.
