Bassam Fattouh
Director, Oil and the Middle East Programme

In addition to his role as Director of the Oil and Middle East Programme, Bassam Fattouh is also Research Fellow at St Antony's College, Oxford University; and Professor at the School of Oriental and African Studies. He has published a variety of articles on the international oil pricing system, OPEC pricing power, security of Middle Eastern oil supplies, and the dynamics of oil prices and oil price differentials where his artilces has appeared in Energy Economics, The Energy Journal, and Energy Policy. Recently, Dr Fattouh served as a member of an independent expert group established to provide recommendations to the 12th International Energy Forum (IEF) Ministerial Meeting in Cancun (29-31 March 2010) for strengthening the architecture of the producer-consumer dialogue through the IEF and reducing energy market volatility. Bassam Fattouh has also published in non-energy related areas where his papers have appeared in the Journal of Development Economics, Oxford Review of Economic Policy, Economic Inquiry, Empirical Economics, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Economics Letters and Macroeconomic Dynamics and in other journals and books.
